The 2014 NLDS Success of the St. Louis Cardinals Based on the Beer I was Drinking

‘Tis the season for baseball fans, as October brings the most fun, memorable moments available. And such memorable moments are sure to spark neurotic superstitions. This leads me to today’s chart, which tracks how my beloved Cardinals fared during the NLDS vs. the Dodgers, based on the beer I was drinking. As you can see, I have some tough decisions to make about what to drink during the upcoming NLCS against the Giants.

For what it’s worth, the choice was Busch when Matt Adams hit what proved to be the game-winner off of Kershaw in game 4. I dropped the Schnickelfritz (an awesome beer, by the way) in favor of the Schlafly Oktoberfest when it was 6-1 Dodgers in game 1. And the Schlafly Oktoberfest has been the drink of choice for two major rallies in my Cardinal fan life, including the comeback against the Nats in the 2012 NLDS. One thing is for sure. No matter how delicious the Schnickelfritz is, I’ll be avoiding it over the next 10 days or so.
